Awards may be given for exceptional legislative advocacy campaigns or projects created to reach and motivate federal, state or local lawmakers or other external constituencies. Your entry may include but is not limited to:

  • A campaign to increase state funding for the institution
  • Targeted efforts to gain support of key lawmakers for an institutional priority
  • An institutional lobby day at the state or federal level

Public awareness campaigns not tied to legislative goals or outcomes should be entered in Public Relations and Community Relations Projects.

Entry Questions
  • Title of entry
  • Provide a concise description of this entry
  • Please provide the names of staff who worked on this entry
  • Brief description of your institution/organization (type, enrollment, mission
  • List your target audience(s) and how you addressed their needs
  • Total number of participants, if applicable
  • Briefly explain the involvement of all persons involved, including students, volunteers and/or others and how they worked together to get the job done
  • If outside vendors/consultants were used, please explain what role they played
  • Total budget for entry, excluding salaries but including the cost of vendors/consultants
  • Why do you think your entry is deserving of recognition? Entrants can emphasize budget, staff, goals, meeting the mission, serving the target audience or anything else that makes the entry worthy of an award. Please limit answer to 500 words
  • Please provide the name of the head of your institution
  • So that we may recognize our winners through social media, please provide your institution's preferred @handle and/or #hashtag. (For example: @CASEAdvance #CASECOE)
  • Share any additional information to clarify the purpose and/or outcome of this work

Entry Instructions

Each program constitutes a single entry. You may enter as many programs as you wish. Programs may be ongoing or new this year but must have been in place long enough to show quantifiable results. Winning programs may not be resubmitted for an award within three years of their first submission.

  1. Submit your entry with attachments through our online entry process.
  2. Your entry form and supporting documents must be submitted online no later than March 9, 2018. This category will be reviewed electronically and need not be mailed to the judging location. However, please print out your entry application for your records.

Judging Criteria

Grand Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze awards may be given for exceptional legislative advocacy campaigns or projects created to reach and motivate federal, state or local lawmakers or other external constituencies.

The judges will look at:

  • Solid objectives and how they support your institution's mission
  • Effective planning
  • Need for the campaign/project
  • Understanding of your target audiences(s)
  • Innovative and creative ideas
  • Use of available resources
  • Results and impact of the project on your institution

Non-English Entries

CASE welcomes entries in other languages besides English in this category. While entry questions must be completed in English to facilitate judging, entry materials written in languages other than English are eligible for recognition as long as such materials are accompanied by brief explanations written in English.
