CASE Appoints Educational MarComm Expert as Interim Vice President, Marketing and Communications

WASHINGTON, DC —The Council for Advancement and Support of Education announced today that Rob Moore, a marketing communications expert in the advancement profession, will join CASE July 1 as interim vice president of marketing and communications.

Moore, who is stepping down as president and CEO of Lipman Hearne as part of a long-planned succession process, will continue the work of Michael Kiser, who served as CASE's vice president of marketing and communications until his death last month following a brief illness.

CASE President and CEO Sue Cunningham says Moore will "continue the good work of our beloved colleague."

"Like Michael, Rob is a visionary leader and clear thinker who will be focused on what is best for our members and for CASE," says Cunningham. "I can think of no better person to step into this role at this important moment as we implement various communications and marketing initiatives in support of our ambitious strategic plan."

Moore says he is "honored and humbled" to step into the interim role.

"I have enormous respect for CASE and the work begun by Michael," Moore says. "The energy and momentum that CASE enjoys today is palpable, and I am eager to join the team and build on the terrific work already in progress."

Moore has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit marketing and is a leading contributor on branding and fundraising topics to industry periodicals including CASE Currents, Change, Advancing Philanthropy and Trusteeship.

He also launched and supervised the nation's first survey of marketing practices in higher education, and his book on higher education branding—The Real U: Building Brands That Resonate with Students, Faculty, Staff, and Donors—was published by CASE in 2010. A more recent book—Net Proceeds: Increased Revenue from Enrollment and Advancement Guaranteed!—was published by CASE in 2013.

A founding member of CASE's Industry Advisory Council, Moore most recently has been leading a group of distinguished volunteers in articulating CASE's brand architecture. Moore will continue to serve Lipman Hearne clients on a part-time basis as senior counsel.
