CASE Announces New Board Leadership Officers, Trustees Elected at Annual Conference in Chicago

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Members of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education have elected two officers and 10 representatives to serve on the CASE Board of Trustees. The results were announced July 9 during the CASE membership meeting held in conjunction with the association’s Summit for Advancement Leaders conference in Chicago.

The CASE Board of Trustees consists of four officers, 18 trustees-at-large (one of whom is chair of the CASE Europe board) and eight trustees representing the CASE districts within North America. The 30-member board sets CASE policies, approves the annual budget and ensures sound management of the organization. Because of their staggered terms of office, only a limited number of trustees are elected in any given year.

Trustees were elected by CASE membership via electronic ballot. The two officers elected were:

• Cassie McVeety, vice president for university relations at Portland State University. McVeety was voted chair-elect. She will assume her two-year term as CASE chair, beginning July 2009
• Linda Steckley, vice president for development at the Brookings Institution. Steckley will serve a one-year term as secretary

Three district trustees were elected to terms that end in 2010:

• Frank Bush, executive vice president for institutional advancement at Coker College. Bush will serve as the District III trustee, representing members from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia
• Kathy Bickel, vice president of outreach and engagement of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. Bickel will serve as the District V trustee, representing members from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin
• Curtis Crespino, associate vice chancellor of university advancement of the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Crespino will serve as the District VI trustee, representing members from Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming

Members of CASE also elected seven trustees-at-large to three-year terms.

• Mary K. Carrasco, assistant head of school for external affairs for Mercersburg Academy
• Linda Durant, senior vice president for university advancement for Widener University
• Peyton Helm, president of Muhlenberg College
• Richard T. Ingram, president emeritus of the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges
• C. Duncan Rice, principal and vice chancellor of the University of Aberdeen
• Lorna Somers, vice president of McMaster Foundation and director of development for McMaster University
• Steven Suda, director of the Stanford International Division, Office of Development, for Stanford University
